27th March 1592 - 29th May 1637

He came from a family of Polish Lutheran craft. He worked as a teacher at Secondary School in Prague of St. Nicholas in Mala Strana, and since 1613 in Holesove. In 1615 he went to Meziričí Wallachia, where he became the pastor a year later. After the Battle of White Mountain (1620) cast him out of Moravia, and went into the city Bielsko. Hence in 1629 he went to Slovakia, where he worked in the Orava Podzámok and later in Liptovský Mikuláš. He died on 29th May 1637 in Liptovský Mikuláš.

He wrote Latin and Czech secural and religious literature. His most important work is hymnal (Cithara Sanctorum). Tranovský is usually labeled as Slavic Luther.
