Michal Martikán

Michal Martikán is a Slovak representative in slalom canoeing. Successful Slovak water slalom. He is an Olympic champion in Atlanta 1996, gold medalist from the Beijing Olympics 2008. The individual world champion four times (1997, 2002, 2003 and 2007).
Michal Martikán was born in Liptovský Mikuláš on 18th May 1979. He is tall 172 cm and his weight is 68 kg. His coach is his father Joseph Martikán. He has got two daughters, Tamara and Emma. They live in Liptovský Mikuláš.
He is training on Areal of water slalom in Liptovský Mikuláš, too.
Michael was 16 years old when he won his first World Championship medal in the seniors and he still wins.
We hope that his daughters will continue this sport.

Ondrej Cibák
1926 - 2000

His life is connected with whitewater .
He was representative , coach and a pioneer in designing and construction of slalom tracks .
He was also a builder of boathouse in Liptovský Mikuláš and water slalom area , too.
There are races in the whitewater slalom every summer here.
His artificial whitewater slalom areas are in Slovakia , Italia , Macedonia , Finland , Germany , Croatia , Spain and Sweeden.
